A Joyful Summer Wedding in Historic St. Mary’s City | Tyra & JD

Tyra and JD’s July wedding in Historic St. Mary’s City, Maryland had all the vibes. Was it a total scorcher? Yep. Did the heat stop anyone from having the time of their lives? Not a chance. This whole day was the perfect mix of heartfelt moments, family love, and a reception that turned into the best kind of party.

The ceremony started with the kind of vows that make you feel all mushy inside… seriously, these two had everyone tearing up. And then came the parent dances.

Cocktail hour was the definition of fun. Guests got to sip on drinks while playing yard games, and the cutest little snacks were making their rounds. It felt super laid-back, like the perfect summer hangout, but with wedding-day magic sprinkled all over it.

When it came time for portraits, we snuck Tyra and JD away down by the docks, and oh my gosh, the water, and the joy on their faces. Straight up dreamy. Their wedding party portraits were just as good. Everyone was laughing, cheering, and hyping them up the entire time. This crew was all in on celebrating their people, it was seriously the kind of wedding party every couple dreams of having.

And then…the reception. Whew. Tyra honored both of her dads, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. It was emotional in the very best way, the kind of moment you don’t forget. One of my favorite little surprises from the night? A guest sketched Tyra and JD’s first dance on a napkin and gifted it to them. Like, how sweet is that?! In the middle of all the laughter and chaos of the reception, this tiny, thoughtful gesture captured such a big moment. It’s those little details that make a wedding day feel so personal and unforgettable.

These two threw down, and so did their guests. The dance floor was packed, the energy was high, and then, because it’s summer in Maryland, a storm rolled in. Instead of stopping the fun, it cranked things up even more. Everyone kept partying through the rain like it was the best thing that could’ve happened, and honestly? It was.

Historic St. Mary’s City was the perfect backdrop for all of this. The mix of history, charm, and wide open spaces set the scene beautifully, and even with the heat and rain, the whole day felt magical.

From start to finish, Tyra and JD’s wedding was pure joy. Heartfelt vows, family moments, the best hype squad, yard games, cocktails, dockside portraits, and a dance floor that never quit. It truly doesn’t get better than that.
