Courthouse Elopement in Leonardtown Maryland M&D’s Intimate Wedding Day
Makayla and Darian’s day was the kind that reminds me why I love intimate weddings so much. No pressure, no overthinking, just the two of them choosing each other in a way that felt easy, intentional, and so full of love.
They said “I do” at the courthouse in Leonardtown, Maryland, surrounded by their closest friends and family. It was short, sweet, and honestly kind of perfect. The kind of ceremony where you blink and it’s over, but somehow it still holds so much weight. You could feel how excited everyone was for them, and that energy carried through the entire day.
After their ceremony, we wandered over to Leonardtown Square for portraits which is truly one of my favorite spots for moments like this. There’s something about it that just works every single time. The mix of charm, texture, and that small town feel makes it such a good backdrop without taking away from what actually matters which is them. Makayla and Darian were completely in their element, laughing, soaking it all in, and just being together. My jam.
And this is exactly why intimate weddings have such a special place in my heart. There’s something about stripping a day down to what actually matters that makes everything feel more meaningful. You get more time, more presence, more real moments. Nothing feels rushed or performative. It’s just connection, start to finish. As much as I love a big wedding day, these smaller celebrations are some of my absolute favorites to capture because they leave so much room for authenticity. The in-between moments, the deep breaths, the quiet excitement… it all gets to exist without being overshadowed.
These are the kinds of sessions that feel less like “posing” and more like documenting. Letting things unfold naturally, giving a little direction when needed, but mostly just capturing what’s already there. And with these two, there was so much to capture.
Once we wrapped up portraits and said our goodbyes, they were off to celebrate at Olde Town Pub with their people before heading out for a full night of bar crawling which honestly feels like the most iconic way to celebrate your wedding day. Lowkey, high energy, and completely them.
Days like this are such a good reminder that your wedding doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful. It just has to feel like you. And Makayla and Darian nailed that in every possible way.
Makayla and Darian, thank you for letting me be a part of something so special. I’ll be thinking about this day for a long time. 🤍
